Skip's Edtech Jobs: January 27, 2024

Location-specific jobs are back in the newsletter this week!

Thank you for reading the EdSkipper, Skip’s newsletter about skipping from education to education-aligned careers. Every Saturday, I send out a list of curated remote jobs. Premium subscribers receive access to additional jobs in the Edskipper database and two additional emails a month with advice to help you apply more competitively.

Happy Saturday!

Today’s newsletter is coming out a few hours later than usual because I’ve been working heavily on the backend for the database, including sourcing from an additional 40+ companies this week. (Fun fact: only 7 of those companies were currently hiring I’m intentionally expanding the database with those small edtech companies that hire infrequently so may fly under the radar.)

You’ll see some changes to Skip over the next few months as I transition to a new website. Right now, the major changes are happening behind the scenes, and my husband and I are working to partially automate the sourcing that I do each week.

It’s a slow process and definitely a process — it’s two steps forward, one back, hope I haven’t missed anything obvious (or disruptive!), and breathing.

This is exactly why project management skills are relevant for any job you take. Being able to identify a clear set of tasks and needs, marshall the right resources, and then implement quality checks throughout (especially before you have a lot of quantitative data at your fingertips) is one of our educator super powers.

~I hope you find some fantastic jobs to apply to this weekend,
Chelsea

This Week’s Poll

Earlier this week, I received an email from a founder who was looking to hire a former educator for a Chief of Staff role — but I couldn’t help him because it was an in-person role. In fact, I wrote back to him, “I don’t think my audience is looking for non-remote jobs.”

I wrote about our exchange on LinkedIn because I love that he was looking for an educator. I wasn’t expecting that my inbox would soon be flooded with people asking if the job was located in their city.

Businesses have been re-evaluating their post-Covid remote policies for the last year, and I think y’all are now doing the same. Especially because remote jobs are so in-demand right now.
