Skip's Edtech Jobs: March 2, 2024

Thank you for reading the EdSkipper, Skip’s newsletter about skipping from education to education-aligned careers. Every Saturday, I send out a round up of curated remote jobs from Skip’s job board!

I was reading a job description this week that resonates with why I curate edtech/ed adjacent jobs that are looking for education experience rather than just any old business experience. It said: “We find educators with leadership experience within the K-12 space to be successful in this position given their knowledge of the complexities of managing a classroom, understanding of the unique educational landscape, and ability to instill buy in from their fellow educators.”

Edtech is the future of education as districts merge in-person and digital learning experiences and leverage tech to do that. But I often worry that economics will drive that transition rather than education-centered objectives. (We see this so much in education and the arts already…)

That’s why I share jobs from companies that value educator experience — they know that their products are better when they involve educators at every step of the process, from software development to the student experience.

On a different tech note, the website transition for premium subscribers is going really well!

There are 450+ jobs (~300 national, the rest location-specific) on the new site. I added 71 national roles in the past week and any closed roles were (automatically!) deleted. I checked all jobs Friday afternoon.

Our next step is to skip everyone to the new website. We anticipate launching the full site very soon (this week even?!) so stay tuned!!

Programming notes for premium members: the website will be down for scheduled maintenance Tuesday, March 5th starting at 6pm. We’re anticipating 1+ hours of downtime. I sent out an email with your log-in information Thursday. (If you didn’t receive, it check your spam because I sent out a lot of very similar emails so that can trigger spam filters.) Reach out if you have any questions/problems setting up your account/feedback.

~I hope you find some fantastic jobs to apply to this weekend,
Chelsea
